NEWTON Abbot Spurs made it two wins from two in the South West Peninsula League under new manager Connor Marshall.
Toby Pullman, playing for the first time this season, scored the only goal of the penalty spot as Spurs won on their travels.
Crediton United were their opponents and this fixture was a 5-1 win for Spurs last time around, Pullman as one of the five scorers ironically enough.
A two week break between games one and two could easily have affected the rhythm of the Newton Abbot-based team so credit must go to them for taking another three points.
Next up for Marshall’s men is a derby duel against Bovey Tracey AFC tomorrow night, who themselves enjoyed a 6-0 thrashing of Honiton Town over the weekend.
August then concludes with another home midweek game on Tuesday 26, Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police the visitors on that occasion, and a visit to Bishops Lydeard on Saturday 30.
Meanwhile, Teignmouth AFC’s search for their first points of the campaign carries on as they were beaten for the third game in a row.
It was a hugely momentous occasion for the club as, after nearly a year away, footballing action returned to their Coombe Valley home.
Okehampton Argyle were on hand to spoil the celebrations though, winning 3-0 to pick up the first points of their own season. Jaiden Miller, Josh Robins and young Tyler Little scored the goals.
Elsewhere in the Peninsula League, Ilfracombe Town struck four unanswered goals at Honiton Town, the spoils were shared between Bridport FC and Stoke Gabriel and Cullompton Rangers prevailed in an eight-goal thriller against Ilminster Town.
Also, there were wins by a single-goal margin for Torrington AFC and Torridgeside AFC, beating Middlezoy Rovers and Bishops Lydeard respectively.
