Gymnast Alfie Collier, from Kingsteignton was crowned Junior Sportsman of the Year at the Teignbridge Sports Personality Awards – one of the youngest winners in the event’s history.

Taking place at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren, ten-year-old Alfie, who is a member of Newton Abbot Somersault Gymnastic Club, beat off stiff competition from Billy Green (Newton Abbot College) and Thomas Manley (Newton Abbot Swimming Club) to take the title.

When it was announced that he was the winner, Alfie, who is a pupil at Rydon Primary School, received one of the loudest cheers of the night from the 275-strong audience.
