Devonport Services 1st XI. 2
Ashmoor Mens 2nd XI 1
IN the absence of action for Ashmoor Hockey Club men’s 1st XI and the women’s side, Ashmoor men’s 2nd XI took centre stage this weekend.
Ashmoor Men's 2nd team travelled to play a rejuvenated Devonport Services team aiming to cement their top-three position.
The team played well early on, and took a deserved lead when Seth Turner played in Phil Hampson for the striker to bury his shot and give Ashmoor the lead.
However, Devonport came more into the game as the half progressed and managed to equalise before the halftime break.
Ashmoor were dealt a double-killer blow when Devonport took the lead soon after the restart and then skipper Reuben Stanley was sin-binned for a stick tackle. Ashmoor tried to get back in the game when he returned, but the scoreline remained the same and the home side took the points.
It was only Ashmoor second team's third defeat of the season, and they stay in joint 3rd in the division.

Ashmoor Men's 3rd XI. 5
Taunton Vale Men's 5th XI. 0
Ashmoor Men's 3rd team produced their best performance of the season to record a 5-0 victory against Taunton Vale, a side with whom they had previously drawn.
Captain John Lilley gave them the lead ten minutes in when he deflected home a penalty corner. In goal for Ashmoor, Reuben Keeling made a crucial save from a penalty corner to keep Ashmoor ahead, and then just before halftime Player of the Match Ryan Bougourd scored a fine solo goal to double Ashmoor's lead.
After the break Ernie Hunt played in Bougourd for his second goal, and within minutes it was 4-0 when youngster Alex Southgate rocketed in a reverse stick effort. It was left to Nick Edmeades to score a similar effort for goal number five, Bougourd the provider for both goals.
Skipper Lilley was delighted with the win and clean sheet which moves Ashmoor out of the relegation spots.
Ashmoor Men's 4th XI. 2
Exeter Men's 4th XI. 2
The two sides were evenly matched throughout this entertaining game which appropriately finished with honours even.
Ashmoor had the better of the early exchanges with Henry McAnaney setting up
Tom Read for his first, and then ten minutes later Theo Edmeades passed from the right for Read and Ashmoor's second goal.
As half time approached, Exeter won a penalty corner and although Ashmoor defended the first attempt well, they didn’t clear their lines and Taunton snuck a goal back.
The second half was an even affair, but midway through the second half Ashmoor didn’t clear from an innocuous attempt, and the away side pounced on the rebound as the ball spilled out. With no further goals the scoreline remained at 2-2.
This weekend the regional league takes a break, however on Sunday afternoon, Ashmoor Men's 1st team seek to maintain their unbeaten 2026 when they host Fareham at their Totnes base. The match starts at 1:00pm and supporters are welcome - it's free to see.
