FIVE Haldon Trail Runners took part in four challenging races at the weekend – with one winning her event. 

On Saturday, Miriam McDowell did the Total Coastal half marathon on the tough coast path from Preston Green near Paignton to Shaldon. She finished fourth overall and first female in a time of 2:17:54.

Meanwhile, Sam Broad did the Beltane Brightfire 17-kilometre race at Fingle Bridge in the Teign Valley and finished in 2:10:02, which put him 43rd.

The following day, Sophie Harrison and Alice Stuckley did the 14-mile Green Lantern around Exeter's undulating and multi-terrain Green Circle.

Alice crossed the line in 37th place in 2:22:20 and Sophie was 46th in 2:28:24.

Also on Sunday, Anthea Board covered almost 30 miles on hilly trails for the virtual London Marathon – and even stopped for around 10 minutes to help a biker who had had a fall. She finished in 4:29:58.
