Newton Abbot All Whites brought the curtain down on their season with two well-attended events in a marquee on the Rackerhayes pitch.

On Saturday, nearly 300 people attended the annual dinner/dance and presentation evening, while the previous Thursday a crowd of well over 200 were entertained by England and Harlequins’ number 8 Nick Easter at the club’s ever-popular Sportsman’s Dinner.

The presentation evening was a personal success for Luke Kenny as the popular 1st XV scrum-half picked up three of the awards on offer. He collected the Graham Rooke cup (best newcomer), the John Fogwill Cup (players’ player) and the Len Taylor Cup (first XV player of the year).

The President’s Cup (2nd XV player of the year) went to Rob Palmer, with the 2nd XV (known as the Spartans) being named as the club’s team of the year and collecting the Director of Rugby Cup from Roy Henderson.

Henderson, who is retiring from his post, was then awarded the Terry Yabsley Cup which goes to the non-playing clubman of the year.

Player/coach Colin Stewart was honoured with the Chris Wakeham Cup as playing clubman of the year.

Jack Smith was made a life member and merit ties were awarded to 1st XV players Kevin Dennis and Lloyd Radford, as well as to committee member Peter Webb.
