EIGHT ladies from Fit2Run Newton Abbot took part in the first ever event at Buckfast Abbey, organised by Purple Gecko Events, on Sunday, August 10.

On one of the hottest days of the year, this historic setting provided a spectacular backdrop to a 2.5K, 5K, 10K and half marathon course. It was a rare chance to run through farmland and woodland surrounding the iconic Abbey.

Each loop was 5K, and the event seemed to run seamlessly whilst the simultaneous disciplines all took place.

Lucy Woolley isn’t photographed but she was also in action, setting off earlier for the half-marathon, which she completed in two hours and 21 minutes.
