TEIGNBRIDGE Trotters Running Club have their well-regarded Haytor Heller trail race taking place very soon, on Saturday, September 6.
This popular moorland race, now in its 39th year, starts below Haytor Rock and follows a hilly, single lap route before returning once again to Haytor Rock with a fast downhill scamper to the finish opposite the middle car park at Haytor.
The course is approximately six miles and is challenging, with several steep ascents and descents and is generally run across rugged, open moorland (apart from two sections through woodland; firstly below Hound Tor and secondly below Haytor) and includes a stream crossing.
Also, it is completely off-road with fabulous views and plenty of friendly marshals to help.
The race is part of the Dartmoor Fell Series and attracts a wide range of runners with over 240 signed up to date. Race HQ is at the Coach Park, located at the far end of the lower car park beneath Haytor.
There are a wide selection of goodies, including the famous Trotters cakes, plus a BBQ on the go, subject to weather of course. The club hope you will be able to stay and join them in what promises to be a cracking evening.
