MID Devon Cycling Club riders tackled a very wet and muddy day at Soggy Bottom 2026 Round Two, held at Newnham Park, Plympton.

In tough conditions, James Allen took an impressive win in the Youth category. Andy Tayler secured 5th in the M50 field, while Caspian Wikeley delivered a strong ride to finish 4th. Caue Bruzzone followed in 6th, Risu Wikeley in 7th, and Jenson Scott in 13th, completing a solid set of results for the club.

Meanwhile, Meryn Kitching put in a strong showing at Round Two of the Southern Winter Series in Swindon, finishing 4th overall in the 3–4 race. He rode aggressively throughout, making the most of the race situations, and is looking forward to the season ahead.

With Bayley Woodger riding for the club before heading to the Netherlands to join his team for the coming season, he suffered an unfortunate hold‑up on the last lap when a lapped rider cut across him.

Despite that setback, he went on to compete in the E123 race, finishing 6th, showing excellent strength and form after a solid winter of preparation.

Former Mid Devon junior rider George Watch also opened his season in style, taking 8th place at the challenging Portsdown Classic at South Downs College, Purbrook, Waterlooville.

The event is known as the traditional curtain‑raiser to the British domestic road season, raced over a demanding hilly circuit. His result reflects a productive winter of training and promising early-season form.
