MANY Teignbridge Trotters recently took part in the John Scott Trophy handicap 4-mile race.
A high turnout of 41 were aiming to win the coveted, magnificent trophy donated by John, a former stalwart. The handicap system aims to ensure a close finish by all the runners and this year was no exception.
The first across the line was the jubilant Cheryl Dunn, followed by second place Sarah Blanchard and third Susanne Westgate.
Sue Tremlett took part Running Events Devon Medal Mix - half marathon. It was a beautiful day for it even if she did have to run the first ‘lap’ in her hoodie due to the cold!
She reports: “A rather slow 2hrs 19mins but I’m clawing my way back from nine months on the injury bench so I’ll take that. Four out-and-back laps of just over three miles, you choose your own distance and challenge with some new friends.
Jon Pressling jetted off for some winter sun and run race action at the Lisbon Discoveries Half Marathon. The flat, waterfront setting made for a great race setting as thousands of people headed out on the scenic course.
Aiming to get close to a PB time, Jon was on pace for the first half but couldn't quite hold on as the cobbles and strong sea breeze took their toll. Putting in one final effort for the line, Jon finished in 1.22.58 and was 140th from over 5,000 runners.
Derek Skinner took part in his 101st marathon in Alicante. "The point to point first running of the event from Elche to the Port of Alicante. A lovely route which warmed up to 18 degrees with great support from the sidelines helping through a challenging last quarter of the 26 miles.”
Derek celebrated with a well earned beer.
