GREAT Britain team member Jai Geyer is aiming to be back on snow within two weeks after suffering another injury setback.

Slalom specialist Geyer, whose family home is in Ipplepen, sustained a knee injury in November 2014 that ruled him out of the 2015 World Championships in the United States.

Geyer needed surgery to repair the injury and only got back into action last month at the FIS giant slalom in St Lambrecht, Austria.

Although Geyer completed both runs in St Lambrecht and finished just two-and-a-half seconds behind the winner, he broke his left hand doing so.

He has had an operation on the break and visited a specialist company in Germany this week to collect custom-made hand protection.

Fingers crossed, the equipment will enable Geyer to resume racing again by the end of the month.

Said Geyer: ‘My hand got broken during the second run and although adrenalin and focus took over I knew something was wrong when I took my glove off and it looked pretty different to my other hand.

‘The doctor to the Austrian men’s World Cup team carried out the operation.

‘I was gutted to be on my back in a foreign hospital being wheeled into theatre for surgery, again, but you just have to roll with it.

‘Back to back injuries are particularly tough mentally, but I remain determined to get back and beyond my best.’

Geyer’s target is to race in the Le Lac Blanc competition in Alsace-Lorraine later this month.

‘I aim to resume normal gate training next week and return to competition in Le Lac Blanc,’ he said.
