FORCE 8, from Newton Abbot Skittles Premier League, had their annual trip to Newquay last weekend for the Pentire Hotel Skittles Championships.
After playing four round robin matches, they qualified for the semi-final on the Sunday playing Settlor Boys from Tiverton and successfully winning by eight pins, with Andy Cornall top scoring on 52.
Into the final against another local team from Totnes, Misfits and Bandits, who hadn't lost a game all weekend so far.
A closely fought contest remained in the balance until the last leg when Force 8 pulled away winning overall by 17 pins, 383-366. Adam Stolworty top scored in this game with 56.
The triumphant team celebrated not only winning this year’s championship but making it five in a row. Their traditional "spare song" Nellie The Elephant could be heard far and wide throughout the hotel.
