The second race of Teignbridge Trotters Championship, the Braunton 10, took place on January 14.

Organised by North Devon Road Runners, it starts at North Devon Athletics’ Track and takes an undulating path out along country lanes towards Ashford and back through the village of Heanton Punchardon. Two climbs later, and a fast descent and the finishing line on the track, makes for a rewarding morning out.

Geoff Davey powered home, clocking 1.02.49 for 12th overall and leading the Trotter contingent. He was followed by Kevin Woodard in 1.04.37 and 19th overall with Peter Heckles 1.08.47 to be 38th.

The ladies were led home by Louise Gentry in 1.16.23 and 99th overall.

Keith Anderson posted a pb in finishing third MV60 in 1.20.06 and 135th in the final standings, while Roger Easterbrook demonstrated real Trotter class, sportsmanship and a good sense of humour by completing the race at a walking pace after hurting his ankle seven miles in.

Other Trotter finishers were: Derek Skinner 1.14.09 73rd, Bruce Campbell 1.14.39 78th, Richard Gentry 1.15.27 91st, John Tweedie 1.19.47 131st, Neil Skinner 1.20.05 134th, Neil Pallant 1.21.06 149th, Peter Hayward 1.22.13 158th, Nigel Barnett 1.22.25 160th, Jo Randall 1.23.25 169th, Jim Donovan 1.26.25 189th, Sally Ingledew 1.33.15 254th, Kathryn Steemson 1.34.49 259th, Eleanor Taylor 1.39.42 294th, Sara Collman 1.40.23 300th, Jo Billyard 1.42.58 319th, Tim Hartley 1.44.05 324th and Roger Easterbrook 1.47.58 335th.
