MONDAY morning blues hit commuters hard today with nine vehicles involved in three separate accidents in the same area within half-an-hour.

A road sign was damaged as four cars piled into each other on the A38 at Haldon Hill just after 8am.

And at 7.45am some five cars were involved in two smashes on the A380 at Ashcombe Cross, Mamhead, causing major congestion.

Police say three cars were damaged in the one accident which happened just after another involving two vehicles on the same stretch of road.

No one was injured in any of the bumps.

The A380 was reported clear by 9.45am.
