A crooked estate agent has admitted swindling customers and business contacts out of more than £130,000.
Russell Baker, aged 37, who ran a lettings and sales agency in Bovey Tracey, pleaded guilty to nine charges of fraud when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
The charges allege he took loans or deposits of up to £35,000 of different victims during 2013 and failed to honour promises to repay the money. The total amount is £139,000.
Baker, of Green Lane, Ilsington, admitted nine counts of fraud and his case was adjourned until September to allow him time to try to repay the money.
Recorder Mr Philip Mott, QC, delayed sentence after hearing that Baker hopes to sell properties to raise money.
The case followed a lengthy investigation by Devon County Council’s Trading Standards department.
