A CAR was deliberately set alight in Buckfastleigh’s Plymouth Road at the weekend and severely damaged.

The vehicle was well alight by the time a fire crew from the town arrived to deal with the incident at 3.20am on Saturday.

Firefighters wearing breathing gear used two hoses to extinguish the blaze.

He added that the cause of the fire appeared to be deliberate.
