A WOMAN escaped serious injury when her car crashed off the Bovey Road towards Heathfield on Sunday evening.

The driver was out of her upturned vehicle by the time the emergency services arrived at the scene near Stover Bridge just before 7pm.

She was checked over at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Her car lost control and ploughed through a hedge before flipping over on to its roof.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

A fire crew from Newton Abbot attended the incident to make the woman’s car safe.
