FIREFIGHTERS were called in to help rescue two people and a dog from a car which had overturned.

Crews from Buckfastleigh and Ashburton were alerted this morning to reports of a road traffic collision involving one motor vehicle.

When crews arrived, two people and the dog were found to be inside the car.

Efforts were made to stabilising the vehicle using V-strut stabilisation equipment.

Firefighters were then able to help a man out of the vehicle by using a short extension ladder.

This meant crews had room to enable them to remove the rear seats of the car.

Firefighters were then able to free the woman by carefully carrying her out of the wreckage and into a waiting ambulance for precautionary health checks.

The dog was also released uninjured.
