POLICE seized a car in Buckfastleigh after its driver was stopped and found to be operating the vehicle with an expired foreign provisional licence.

Officers from the Ashburton and Chudleigh Policing Team stopped the vehicle after noticing its brake light was faulty.

A spokesperson for the Ashburton and Chudleigh Policing Team said: ‘Unfortunately for the driver they had a foreign provisional licence which can only be used for 12 months from the date you first enter the country.

‘After this period, you will need to obtain a UK provisional licence and pass both the theory and practical tests to continue driving.

‘The driver had also borrowed the vehicle from a relative, meaning there was no valid insurance in place.

‘A friendly reminder that it is the motorists responsibility to ensure they hold a valid drivers licence and insurance.

‘As a result, the driver was reported for offences and the vehicle seized.’
