A couple from Newton Abbot have denied running an illegal money lending operation.
Paul Stretch, aged 57, and his wife Mandy, aged 45, both of Twickenham Road, Newton Abbot, appeared at Exeter Crown Court accused of a total of four charges.
They both denied engaging in a consumer credit business without a licence and two charges of converting or using cash which was the proceeds of running an unlawful money lending business.
Paul Stretch admitted a charge of engaging in a regulated business activity without authority. His wife denied the same allegation.
Recorder Mr William Mousley, QC, adjourned all the cases for a trial on February 13 next year and granted both defendants bail.
