A DIESEL air compressor burst into flames at a landfill site in Kennford early today.

Three fire crews dealt with the blaze which happened next to a commercial building at Kenbury Wood on the Old Dawlish Road.

The alarm was raised just before 6.30am when flames and smoke were seen coming from the diesel-fuelled device.

A hosereel jet was used to douse the flames. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check the immediate area had not been affected by the blaze.

A fire spokesman said the incident appeared to be accidental.
