A CHILD has been flown to a specialist hospital in Bristol following a horrifying accident in Teignmouth.

The young girl, believed to be six years old, was in collision with a Ford pick-up type vehicle just before 5pm early this evening (Tuesday, April 4th) in the First Avenue area of the town.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and the Devon AIr Ambulance was also in attendance. Bitton Park Road was closed for a period to allow access for the air ambulance.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "Police and ambulance were called to the scene of a serious collision between a vehicle and a six-year-old girl in the Bitton Park area of Teignmouth."

"As a result of the incident the girl sustained serious injuries and was flown to the Bristol Children’s Hospital."
