THE Environmental Protection Unit from Newton Abbot was called in to help with a car and homes fire in Dartmouth yesterday evening (Tuesday).

A fire appliance from Dartmouth attended and as the fire had spread and was affecting a car, a caravan and a domestic property they requested further fire appliances. Two were sent from Paignton and one from Brixham. In addition the Environmental Protection Unit from Newton Abbot was requested to aid with water and fuel run off.

A private car and one caravan were severely damaged by the fire and three separate private properties were effected by external heat damage.

Wales and West, Devon County Highways and the Environment Agency were informed and this incident was left in the hands of Police.
