A MAN who burned and deposited waste on a Kingsteignton farm without permission faces a custodial sentence, a court heard.
Christopher Garrett, 56, of Little Lindridge Cottage, Lindridge Hill, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before Torbay magistrates on Tuesday.
Prosecuting, the Environment Agency described the transgression as ‘a significant harm matter - committed deliberately.’
It said such matters could carry a jail term of more than a year.
Magistrates said they had insufficient powers to deal with Mr Garrett, and they committed him for sentence at Exeter Crown Court.
He was granted unconditional bail and told to attend the crown court on July 28 for 10am.
Magistrates heard that Mr Garrett’s offence - committed between June 2014 and August 2015 - involved carrying out a regulated waste operation at the farm without any environmental permit.
