THREE fire crews were alerted to a blaze after a candle was left on top of a stove at a property in Buckfastleigh.

Reports came in of a fire involving a domestic stove at the house in Tweenaways at lunchtime on Wednesday.

Firefighters from Buckfastleigh along with colleagues from Ashburton and Ivybridge attended the scene.

They discovered a small fire had broken out when a candle had been placed on top of the stove oven.

The fire was confined to the candle and was out when fire crews arrived.

They made the appliance safe using small tools.

The cause was said to be accidental.
