FIRE crews had to remove the roof of a vehicle to free a woman trapped following a collision between the vehicle and a tractor this morning (Sunday) on the road from Stover Caravan Park to Forches Cross, Stover.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Fire appliances from Newton Abbot, Bovey Tracey and the Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor were mobilised to a report of a road traffic collision with a person trapped.

‘Crews confirmed a collision involving a private vehicle and a tractor on the public highway with one female medically trapped inside the private vehicle.

‘Fire crews stabilised the vehicle and used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the vehicle in order to release the female casualty.’

‘Crews worked alongside paramedics to release the casualty who was stable with head injuries.

‘She was left in the care of paramedics to be transported to hospital.’
