FIREFIGHTERS in Dawlish spent the turn of New Year rescuing an elderly person.
The crew received a call at about 11.45pm from the ambulance service that paramedics needed help to gain access to the property.
Once on scene, firefighters discovered the fall alarm of an elderly occupant that had activated prompting an emergency response.
Crews located a key in a key safe however as there was a key in the opposite side of the lock, they couldn’t use it to open the door.
Firefighters spotted a light on in an upstairs bedroom so pitched a tripled extension to the rear of the property and raised the occupant by banging loudly on the window.
Slightly dazed and confused from being woken up, the occupant made their way downstairs to let the ambulance crew in for checks.
The crew left the scene at 12.20am.
