A FIRE involving a horse box lorry was was tackled by Newton Abbot firefighters in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
Two crews from the town’s station responded to the blaze off Wolborough Street just before 3am after fire control received multiple calls about the fire..
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service said: On arrival crews confirmed the fire involved a horse box lorry on open ground that was well alight.
‘Four firefighters used breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one main jet and small tools to extinguish the fire.’
The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire, which is believed to have been set deliberately, and police have been notified of the incident.
