A judge has ordered a psychiatric report on a man who set light to cars and a house in Newton Abbot while wearing a gas mask and carrying a machete.

Connor Osiris, aged 20, of Seymour Road, Newton Abbot, admitted two counts of reckless arson, two counts of arson, and one of possessing a machete in public when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

All the offences arise from the same incident in Seymour Road on Tuesday, June 25, in which a Peugeot and a Proton were damaged by fire.

Osiris also set light to a uPVC door at a house in the street and a model railway. He had a machete when police were called to the scene and arrested him.

Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, ordered a psychiatric report and adjourned sentence until December 22, the last day on which the court will sit before Christmas.

Osiris, also known as Bunyard, was remanded in custody.
