FIREFIGHTERS had a busy night tackling a major barn fire in Kingskerswell which broke out just after midnight (Friday 1st Dec) .

Crews responded to the 999 shout at Fluder Hill after numerous people called in to report the incident at 12.08am.

Two engines from Torquay along with a bulk water carrier found the barn ‘fully involved’ in fire.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "On arriving at the scene the incident commander requested two more pumps to attend, and these were duly dispatched from from Newton Abbot and Paignton".

Emergency services used mains jets and ground monitors to stop the fire spreading.
