A MAN has been charged in connection with a spate of church burglaries, including several in Teignbridge.

Mihaita Rosca, aged 25 and from Shrewsbury, has been charged with 13 counts of non-dwelling burglary.

The local charges relate to alleged burglaries and thefts at St Andrews Church in Ashburton, All Saints Parish Church, also in Newton Abbot, and St Michaels Church in Teignmouth.

Other matters involve St John’s Church in Weymouth, St Michael and All Angels Church in Exeter, St Thomas Church in Exeter, Holy Cross Church in Crediton, Methodist Church in Torrington, Catholic Church in Tavistock, Holy Trinity Church in Exmouth and St Giles and St Nicholas Church in Sidmouth.

Rosca, of no fixed address, has also been charged in connection with alleged thefts at The Beachcomber Café and Adventure Golf in Teignmouth.

He appeared at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on May 18, and has been remanded until his next court appearance at Exeter Crown Court on June 21.
