A MAN was found dead in Newton Abbot following a search.

Emergency services responded to reports of a high risk man who was missing on Thursday afternoon.

After several hours of searching an area he was thought to be gone to, he was found dead in Bakers Park.

Search and rescue teams had been called in and the man was believed to have been in the area of the park at the time.

Members of Dartmoor Search and Rescue said they had been called in by police to help the search.

A spokesman said: ‘At 2pm on Thursday March 7the team were called out by Devon and Cornwall Police to assist in the search for a high-risk male in the Bakers Park area of Newton Abbot.

‘The highest probability areas were identified and then searched.

‘The individual was found at approximately 7pm but was sadly deceased.

Our thoughts are with the individual’s friends and family.’
