AN ELDERLY man was treated for smoke inhalation after a wooden lodge at Cheriton Bishop was destroyed in a fire.

Firefighters gave the casualty oxygen after he was overcome by smoke from the blazing building at Medland Lodge Farm yesterday afternoon.

The alarm was raised just after 2pm. Crews from Crediton and Exeter arrived to find the building well alight.

Two main jets were used to tackle the flames together with a hosereel jet.

A fire spokesman confirmed the lodge was ‘completely destroyed.’

The casualty was left in the care of paramedics.
