FIREFIGHTERS tackled a chimney fire at a property in Ashburton yesterday evening (Sunday Sep 16).

A crew from nearby Buckfastleigh responded to the 999 shout at Higher Bowdley just after 6pm.

Small tools, chimney gear and a thermal imaging camera were used to extinguish the fire, which was in the flue of an oil fuelled Aga.
