POWER tools worth £2,500 were stolen from builders’ vans in Bovey Tracey.

Police are appealing for information about the break-ins, which happened during the night.

One vehicle’s window was smashed for the thieves to get inside and a padlock was forced on the other van.

Two disc cutters, theodolites and angle grinders were stolen in the break-ins, which happened in Coombe Close and Ashburton Close overnight on Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9.

PCSO Paul Wilson said the tools appeared to have been left in the van for the

workmen to use the next morning.

He said: ‘I am appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in these locations. I’d like to know if there have been any suspicious people in the area and if anyone has been offered power tools for sale.’

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting crime reference CR/070330/15.
