POLICE have launched an operation to amend bad parking habits in a trio of Teignmouth troublespots.

A leaflet drop has been organised to warn offending motorists of the penalties they face if they persist with inconsiderate parking.

Officers say Deer Park Avenue, Lake Avenue and Pellew Way are sources of annoyance to the public.

A police spokesman warned: ‘This is being monitored by our team and we will be inspecting this on a regular basis and taking proportionate and appropriate action.’

Transgressors have been parking on pavements, not leaving enough space for other vehicles to pass and parking too near junctions.

Fixed penalty notices will be issued if the poor parkers persist with their bad habits, say police.

‘A substantial amount of letters have been issued to drivers parked inappropriately,’ said the spokesman.
