A judge has ordered a psychiatric report on a woman who stabbed her husband of 43 years as they lay in bed together at their home in Bovey Tracey.Carol Wilson, aged 67, of Five Acres, Bovey Tracey, admitted causing actual bodily harm to her husband Peter, who suffered knife injuries during an attack on November 20, 2017.The prosecution have decided not to pursue more serious charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Judge David Evans adjourned sentence at Exeter Crown Court and ordered a psychiatric report to be prepared by doctors at Langdon Hospital in Dawlish.
Wilson appeared by video link and was remanded in custody until March 29. The judge told her all sentencing options remain open.
Mr David Sapiecha, defending, told an earlier hearing that Wilson was suffering from anxiety and depression and may have been experiencing the early stages of dementia when she attacked her husband.
Miss William Hunter, prosecuting, said Mr Wilson has been consulted about the case and told the police he wants his wife back home as soon as possible.
