Teignmouth RNLI has congratulated all nine shore crew on becoming head launchers.

Teignmouth RNLI received a visit from a RNLI assessor who qualified all nine of the shore crew as head launchers.

An RNLI spokesperson said: ‘Shore crew play an essential role here at the station and are responsible for overseeing the safe launch and recovery of both the Atlantic 85 and Arancia lifeboats.

‘This can often be a tricky task, especially when dark with sometimes challenging weather and sea conditions.

‘Thursday’s assessment was undertaken during one of the regular training exercises, where the crews knowledge was put to the test.

‘All nine of the Teignmouth RNLI shore crew passed, which has added an even greater level of skill to an already experienced team.

‘With only one in 10 volunteers joining the RNLI from a professional maritime occupation, training is especially important which is why all crew members are provided with first class training, equipment, guidance, and support.’

Volunteers at Teignmouth RNLI give their time 24 hours a day seven days a week to be part of the charity that saves lives at sea.
