Mystery surrounds the cause of a shed fire in Kingsteignton earlier today.

Two crews from Newton Abbot dealt with the incident in Willhays Close involving a shed measuring 3m by 2m.

The suspicious blaze destroyed the shed and its household contents together with a section of garden fence.

A neighbour’s shed was also affected by the flames which were extinguished by a hosereel jet.

The alarm was raised just before 10am.

A fire spokesman said there was no apparent cause of the fire. No gas cylinders were kept in the shed which had no electrical supply.

‘The absence of any means of combustion suggests the likely cause was deliberate,’ explained the spokesman.
