A DRUGS raid was executed by armed police in Dawlish today (Tues) with three people arrested, one for alleged money laundering offences.
Officers struck just before 9am in Pidgely Road where they searched a private property under a warrant issued by Exeter Crown Court.
Those detained were a 39-year-old man on suspicion of money laundering offences together with two suspected drug offenders – a 22-year-old woman and a man, also aged 39.
Supt Matt Lawler, said after the special operation: ‘Entry to the premises was initially undertaken by firearms officers in order to ensure the safety of all parties.
‘As soon as that was established they were able to withdraw with unarmed search-trained officers supported by local detectives completing a full search of the premises.’
He added: ‘Whilst the presence of armed officers inevitably creates some local interest, no-one should be alarmed.
‘In fact I would encourage local residents to be reassured by the fact that we undertake these operations in a very considered and thorough way to ensure the safety of all concerned – including those inside the property, anyone in the immediate area, and of course the officers involved.’
Members of the local policing team were due to remain in the area for the rest of the day to provide reassurance to the public
