RAM RAIDERS fled empty handed after a thwarted bid to plunder a cash machine at Trago Mills over the weekend.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a black Mitsubishi Shogun was used to smash in the front doors of the Co-op store at the trading site outside Liverton.

The foiled raid happened in the early hours of yesterday (sun) at about 2am.

Officers say the offenders made off in a silver estate car, leaving the Shogun behind.

A police spokesman said: ‘We are carrying out forensic and CCTV inquiries and are appealing for any witnesses who may have any information which may assist in the investigation of this crime.’
