A CONSERVATORY was badly damaged in a house fire at Buckfastleigh over the weekend.

Three fire crews from different towns tackled the blaze caused by a defective tumble dryer.

The alarm was raised just after 11pm on Saturday with town firefighters responding to the 999 shout together with colleagues from Ashburton and Totnes.

A hosereel and safety jet were used to fight the flames which caused 50 per cent fire damage to the 10m x 10m conservatory housing the appliance.

A thermal imaging cameras was used to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Minor smoke damage was caused to the semi-detached property.
