A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after a collision between her car and a van on the Teignmouth to Ashcombe road this morning.

Police sealed off parts of the B3192 to allow all three emergency services to deal with the accident scene just before 8.30am.

The casualty, in her late 40s and from Teignmouth, was said to have suffered serious injuries in the accident.

She was evacuated from the location by the Devon Air Ambulance and flown to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital.

Fire crews from Teignmouth and Dawlish attended the scene at Little Haldon where they used cutting gear to free the woman.

The van driver was treated at the scene by paramedics for shock and chest pains.
