A woman has denied setting light to the home of her e- partner in Kingskerswell.

Catherine Jarvis, aged 54, of Alexandra Road, London, pleaded not guilty to arson and arson being reckless whether life is endangered when she appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

Both charges relate to a fire at the home of her former partner Michael Jarvis in Water Lane, Kingskerswell, on June 13, 2016.

Recorder Mr Paul Dunkels, QC, adjourned the case for a jury trial at Exeter Crown Court on August 20 this year and released Jarvis on bail.

Miss Emily Pitts, defending, said her client had changed her surname from Comer to Jarvis by deed poll and should be referred to by this name.
