THE youngest pupils at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School took part in the annual carol service in Buckfast Abbey Church.   

Headteacher Nicola Slack said: ‘Children from our foundation unit dressed up to depict characters from the Christmas story, while older pupils sang in the choir and read during the service.

‘The service came amidst a busy week as the choir sang three carols live on Radio Devon last Thursday as part of their broadcast from Buckfast Abbey for the drive time show.

‘In addition, four pupils from St Mary’s were also asked to read at the Radio Devon Christmas Day service which was held on the same day in the Abbey Church and will be broadcast on Christmas Day. 

‘The children were asked to write about their hopes for the next millennium, which they read aloud to a packed church.’
