STUDENTS at Teignmouth Community School achieved an impressive nearly 50 A* and A grades.

Alice Smiddy chalked up an 'amazing' A*A*AA, and accepted a place at Durham University to study maths. Her late father, John Smiddy, was the much respected director of sixth form at the college, until he died in 2009.

'He was passionate and fiercely ambitious for the young people of Teignmouth, and would have been very proud of Alice and all her fellow students,' said principal Tony Gray.
