Irene Holman, of Churchfields Drive, Bovey Tracey, writes:
Here we go again. More greedy supermarkets wanting to put a nail in the coffin of another busy little town, this time Bovey Tracey.
We have some super shops with helpful staff. i know that visitors like to stop and wander, so how about a stop and shop free car park for a hour, like there is in exminster.
I felt sickened when I read Tim Baker saying the company had received an approach from two supermarket operators who identified there was a lack of suitable shopping in Bovey Tracey. What absolute rubbish.
Leaving Drumbridges from the A38 to come into Bovey there is a big Co-op at Trago Mills. Then at Heathfield there is Mole Valley Farmers, which has a wide selection of local meats, vegetables, fruit, dairy produce and a good upply of bread, cakes, preserves, wines, beers and spirits.
Two garages are on the route into Bovey, with good food supplies.
Steers, near the House of Marbles, has similar stocks to Mole Valley, and at Brimley post office there are ample food supplies. And they will deliver.
Then in Bovy itself there are two cracking butchers, two greengrocers, good florist, a baker's, wonderful delicatessen, a good Spar shop, a Tesco Express and everyone's favourite hardware shop. There is also a free Tesco and Marks & Spencer bus.
Come on, Tim Baker, admit it. It is not more supermarkets we need but good affordble housing.
Pray God Teignbridge planners will see it our way for once, for I am not alone in my views.THIS AND OTHER LETTERS IN OUR ONLINE EDITION
