TEIGNMOUTH councillors were involved in more furious spats – this time one of the rows involved a fallen tree, and whether a member away fishing with his son had anything to do with a £6,800 bill for cutting it down.

There were also heated exchanges over a claim that requested items were not being placed on the agenda, and members allegedly authorising expenditure and taking decisions without permission.

It all became rather confusing and bizarre on Tuesday, with tempers running high.

Councillors and the clerk shouted over each other, and the vice-chairman of the finance and general purposes committee, Cllr Vince Fusco, struggled to retain order.
