A RESIDENT of Teignmouth writes:
I do hope the lady who suffered the trauma with the cyclist is recovering.
It reminded me of an accident last year when I was crossing the Dawlish road at the bottom of Woodway to Cliffden.
There was a line of cars queuing or crawling down the hill into Teignmouth. I looked down the hill, saw it was clear for me to cross halfway to the 'island' and proceeded. I must have been nearly over to the island when a cyclist flew across in front of me, coming down the hill.
He neither shouted to warn me nor rang a bell. He obviously couldn't pass on the left side of the island because of the queue of cars so chanced coming around on the right side. I don't know how he missed me and I was quite shaken up.
I didn't expect anyone to be tearing down the road on the wrong side like that.
