A DAWLISH town councillor is 'appalled' at Teignbridge Council's new dog control order for the Newhay. It states that dogs must be kept to single narrow path and kept on a lead. This has upset Cllr Clive Samuel, himself a dog owner, who uses the Newhay three times a week. He found out about it last week after receiving telephone calls from members of the public. The land is managed by Teignbridge Council, but owned by St Gregory's Church, which is next to the park. 'I think we, as a council, should be told why this is being done,' he said. 'The two dog bins in the area are well used and I suspect it is a minority who is affecting the majority of those who walk their dogs responsibly.' Cllr Samuel also wanted an explanation from Teignbridge Council on the lack of consultation. At the time of going to print, Teignbridge Council was not available for comment.
