ANGLERS left high and dry by the closure of the Bovey Tracey to Chudleigh Knighton road are claiming they have lost hundreds of pounds because of the shutdown.

They are pursuing a compensation claim against Devon Highways for the loss of revenue since the B3344 was closed at the new year for essential building work at Bovis Homes’ Williams Gate development, where more than 200 new properties are being built.

The Newton Abbot Fishing Association reckons as much as £500 in revenue has sunk without trace as members wait for the road closure to be lifted at the end of March so they can again enjoy tight lines at Bradley Pond.

They argue that the original road closure order allowed them access to their happy hunting ground.
